Exercise and Nutrition

Exercise and nutrition go hand in hand.  Improving your nutrition helps you to move and exercise easier.  And exercise improves your body in many ways and contributes to your nurturing your body.  We all want a health fit body as well as a positive outlook on life.  They all go together.

Why do you feel the need or desire to exercise?  It’s an innate yearning from you body’s intelligence.  All animals want fitness.  some animals are smart enough to turn down fatty food.  My cats will not eat fatty or salty food.  Their bodies tell them it’s in not healthy.

Unfortunately we humans are not so smart.  Won’t it be wonderful if we just naturally turned down fatty or salty food? But our mind is able to override our natural instincts and lets us eat unhealthy food.  That’s too bad.   and some foods actually become addictive.  We may completely disregard the fat, calories, salt or sugar in some foods because our bodies “needs” those foods.  Or so we think.

This unhealthy food addiction is the same in many ways as an addiction to smoking cigarettes  or drinking alcohol.  Our brains are telling us it’s a good thing to eat this food.  and we may also overindulge and it twice what our bodies need in the way of calories.

So it becomes a vicious circle of eating unhealthy food which in turn makes us feel tired.  And who wants to exercise if you feel tired or run down?   So the result is our fitness level goes down.  Sometimes our fitness becomes so bad we create diseases such as diabetes.

Humans need a built in warning system when we start our decline in health because of lack of exercise and unhealthy eating.  But the only waring may be buying a larger size of pants or even worse  pain in our feet or stomach.  It isn’t too late when these signals appear to change course.

So why not start a modest exercise program now?  Maybe following an exercise video, try a few spins on a stationary bike or go for a walk?  You may feel better and less tired.  This improved outlook will further encourage you to exercise even more.

And along with the new exercise program, you’ll want to eat better too.  Improving your nutrition goes hand in hand with a good exercise program.  Start adding a salad to dinner.  Add a piece of fresh fruit to your lunch.  Try more fiber at breakfast too.

We have some ideas to help you improve your exercise and nutrition.  Here’s a short exercise video from The Firm, one of the best exercise video producers, to get you started.  Good luck!
